Migration to PowerBuilder 12 : Not as Smooth as Expected [Part 2]

By: Konstantin Goldobin on Nov 01, 2013

Previously in Part 1 of this article, Konstantin began to explain his team's migration path from PowerBuilder 10 with MKS Integrity as the source code control system to PowerBuilder 12 Classic and Subversion (SVN). While the migration task seemed simple and straightforward, the team encountered a few pitfalls that were described in Part 1. This second part continues the PB12 migration journey and uncovers a few additional issues involving Changed Tab Control Events, ShareData, and unexpected GetRow behaviour.

Note: Although we were migrating from PowerBuilder 10.5.1 to 12.5.1, for simplicity I’ll be referring to these versions as PB10 and PB12. In addition, I have no information in which of the versions released between PB10 and PB12 Sybase actually made the changes discussed below. Hence, I’ll be referring to them as being done in PB12 even though it may technically be less accurate than you might like.
