By: Curtis Heinrichs on Nov 01, 2013

Supplying reports to management is a regular necessity and one of the items you can be asked for is how much storage is being consumed and how is it changing from period to period. If you find yourself with this requirement and you prefer to build a custom method for collecting the information yourself, then here are some useful building blocks to help start out.

Let’s start with the assumption that you have a number of production ASE instances and that you will need to collect and centralize your space data. You will want to keep some history to allow trend reporting. You want to collect the data at the database level and at the segment level (for those of you who exploit segments).
