Migration to PowerBuilder 12 : Not as Smooth as Expected [Part 1]

By: Konstantin Goldobin on Sep 02, 2013

So let me explain our situation... We were using PowerBuilder 10 with MKS Integrity as the source code control system before facing the task of migration to PowerBuilder 12 Classic and Subversion (SVN). After some research we had done on the subject, the migration seemed simple and straightforward. However, we encountered a few pitfalls on the migration path and this article describes the issues we needed to overcome.

Note: Although we were migrating from PowerBuilder 10.5.1 to 12.5.1, for simplicity I’ll be referring to these versions as PB10 and PB12. In addition, I have no information in which of the versions released between PB10 and PB12 Sybase actually made the changes discussed below. Hence, I’ll be referring to them as being done in PB12 even though it may technically be less accurate than you might like.
