SAP cloud & data developers: get ready for “bullish” times

By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Jan 24, 2014

SAP CEO Bill McDermott is on a mission -- and if you are an SAP-centric cloud-connected database/developer then it may just end up impacting your personal usage of technology from the growing IT stack that is the total SAP family now.

After what has been called a “giant” fourth quarter earnings figure, SAP is out to blast any other so-called "business cloud companies" out of the water.

So what competition is SAP talking about?

You can surmise that as much as SAP thinks about IBM and Oracle as it always does, in this case the firm is referring to firms such as and Workday.

McDermott chants, "SAP is 20 times more profitable than [and] we have 20 times more customers than Workday. These companies don't make money. Now we've declared we're going to be 'the' cloud company, we're going to go after those line of business cloud companies with everything we have."

McDermott went on to say that, “Some people said we were late in the cloud, but we've just accelerated to be number one."

SAP puts much of its recent success down to its “predictions” that data would move off of slow disk-based computing entities and move onward to be managed in columns in main memory.

Are you on SAP’s off premise and in cloud (and in secure mobile solutions) world?
