SAP post Hagemann Snabe: same product focus, but more cloud

By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Nov 27, 2013

Departing SAP co-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe has said that software application developers focused on HANA and the wider “product” labelled elements of the SAP stack should rest easy.

imgres.jpgHe said (at the SAP UK & Ireland User Group Conference in Birmingham) that next year’s roadmap will see HANA (and one can assume PowerBuilder and other related ex-Sybase technologies) will feature as prominent players in the future SAP roadmap but that the emphasis for the company’s ERP suite will move towards the cloud.

"I believe that leadership is not just about putting the company on track for success, but it's also about making sure that you're no longer needed," he said.

    Innovation for the nation

Co-chief exec Bill McDermott who will now lead the ship is “also strong on innovation” he told the crowd…

… he also confirmed that HANA as a technology proposition will increasingly move to a cloud based delivery mechanism.

"We are basically seeing a situation where in the public cloud space many of the CRM topics, most of HR, most of procurement, and some finance is moving to the cloud," said Snabe. "We are supporting all of them but we will not take away our on-premise versions. But a lot of innovation will be in leveraging the cloud's capabilities."
