Snabe & Poonen out, but SAP has a "deep bench"

By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Jul 22, 2013

You may have noticed that SAP recently announced co-CEO Jim Snabe steps down from his role as CEO in May 2014.

There are also reports detailing news that Sanjay Poonen will also be stepping down.

    But what now for SAP?

The SAP Analytics blog details comments this week saying that the changes aren't insignificant and that "SAP has a deep bench" from which it draw upon.

“We’ve seen in the last month or so restructuring of cloud strategy, restructuring of mobility strategy, and the end of the co-CEO model—and then the end of the Snabe era,” says Joshua Greenbaum, president of Enterprise Applications Consulting.

Greenbaum also says that SAP is not a hierarchical organization with a "Superman at the top" and that it is a consensus-driven company.

The fact is, there are two boards; there’s now one CEO -- and there are (about) 25 top executives that didn’t go anywhere.
