What will SAP’s January 2013 Frankfurter surprise be?

By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Jan 01, 2013

SAP is all about clarity and communication and explanation these days.

The firm’s experiencehana.com/ website is a good example of how the company has been going to pains to explain, expound and elucidate at a very digestible level what its new data and developer propositions really are.

So it is then that we come to the January Frankfurter surprise.

This is not (as you might logically guess) some new kind of organic sausage, but a reasonably unusual press announcement that the company is flying journalists into Germany for personally on January 10.

With so much of 2012 at SAP focused on innovations in cloud, mobile, applications, analytics, technology and database… it’s tough to guess at what the company may have up its sleeve for this event.

One imagines that given the amount of applications now running directly and natively on HANA (such as the firm’s own CRM offering), this could well be an area of focus.

Strong bets are on fast native HANA apps using “live hot” data for real-time analytics… and an announcement in some way attached to this area.

The ISUG Tech editorial reporting team will (selflessly) be traveling to the German city courtesy of SAP itself to find out more.
