By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Sep 18, 2012

Business Week has reported on plans currently being made by SAP to release a new version of its Sybase Unwired Platform.

The new iteration will reportedly be enriched with tools that let more software application developers create applications for sale through SAP’s online store.

Co-Chief Executive Officer Jim Hagemann Snabe has spoken about a new online development tool (code-named Neo) that lets programmers customise the appearance and feel of SAP applications on smartphones, tablets and PCs.

“SAP’s new Sybase release will let developers design mobile apps for “a broader audience,” Snabe said. As of now, it is though that about 100 software developers are participating in a pilot of SAP’s online store.

“We’re taking a lot of learning from the consumer world where the interaction is intuitive, it’s enjoyable,” he said. “We are asking ourselves, ’Why would that not be the benchmark for business software?’ ”
