Sybase Launches Mobility Manifesto Microsite

By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Dec 22, 2011

I thought it would be worth a quick Database & Developer Digest blog to let you know (if you hadn’t noticed already) that Sybase, an SAP company (we have to say that now) has launched a dedicated micro-site under the label of the Mobility Manifesto at

    First thoughts:

    a)    Wow – how did they nab a great URL like that? I can’t believe it was available.

    b)    Looks like a really funky modern layout, has Sybase taken a “let’s get funky style” pill in time for the holiday season?

    c)    Is this a really great example of an online analytical tool, or is this just a simple multiple choice online survey that’s not going to provide much insight?

Sybase says that the microsite has been designed to (and I quote), “Facilitate and unite discussions around mobility in the workplace between the two major shareholders in business.”

Who are those two major shareholders you ask?

Employees (or rather consumers) and CIOs/IT departments, of course!

“Sybase, via a drive of consumer outreach (something traditionally not undertaken by Enterprise players), is aiming to be the champion of the mobile platform and app diversity in the consumer market,” said the company’s supporting press materials.

The Mobility Manifesto is interactive and allows visitors to:

    • Take a quiz to find out where their company ranks on mobility, with current results showing 57% of companies as ‘Laggards’ and 25% as ‘Dreamers’
    • Share the results with their boss through an auto-fill letter
    • Download an iBook including guidance and advice for both end-user and IT

Now 2012 is the year of “bring your own device” as you will no doubt already know – so is Sybase’s content here pretty timely?

It could be, take it for a run yourself. There's a complete supporting document to download too of course. I ranked it as “possibly insightful but not necessarily” after I ran through the questions myself.
