Session Previews: Paul A. Horan SAP Global Mobility Presales Enablement

By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Feb 25, 2015

What is your position in your place of work?

I’m the Director of Mobility Presales Enablement at SAP.  My job is to make sure our technical Solution Engineers around the globe are up to speed on the latest enhancements in our mobility product suite, and are able to effectively present our solutions to SAP customers.

What is the title of your session and when is it?

I’m delivering two sessions.  The first is entitled "OData Support in SQL Anywhere 16.0", and that’s being held on Tuesday, 3/31 at 3:45pm.  The second is a two-hour hands-on session with HANA Cloud Platform – Mobile Services (HCPms), where we’ll use the new WebIDE and Hybrid App Toolkit to build a cross-platform mobile application in SAPUI5.  That’s on Wednesday, 4/1 at 10:15am.

What gave you the inspiration and drive to present this topic in this way?

I’ve been using SQLAnywhere for over 20 years - since it was called Watcom SQL!  The fact that SQL Anywhere is still thriving as a platform and supporting important technologies like OData is very exciting.  HCPms is the latest innovation from SAP for supporting the mobile app developer.

Why should people come to your session and why does it rock?

I’m a developer at heart and I love to write software.  I also love to teach, and help others achieve excellence in their roles as developers.  The SQL Anywhere session will show that you can “teach an old dog new tricks”, while the HCPms hands-on session lets you get your hands on the newest tools and technologies before they’re even released to customers.

What is the one thing you hope attendees will take away from your session?

Sybase/iAnywhere technologies and innovations are alive and well at SAP!
