By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Mar 09, 2015

What is your position in your place of work?

DB Unit Manager - Direct Insurance, Israel. Managing a team of DBAs. Responsible for supporting production databases for one of the leading direct insurance companies in Israel. Working as DB Solution Architect, Team Leader, Migration Specialist.

What is the title of your session and when is it?

The session focuses on two difficult migration project from ASE 12.5.3/4 to 15.7. Both sites experiences difficulties in past migrating to the new ASE version. One had a history of failed migration in the past. The last successful migration involved working tightly with SAP Sybase TSE on overcoming technical issues specific to ASE 15.7 under a particular type of application load.

What gave you the inspiration and drive to present this topic in this way?

Well, 15.7 has been a challenge for many companies struggling to move away from the safety zone of 12.5 version ASE. There were both optimizer and kernel changes to be faced with. Not much practical experience with ASE 15.7 has been accumulated.

Why should people come to your session and why does it rock?

The session is relevant to those who have a migration to 15.7 ahead of them. Things to focus on. Things to avoid.

What is the one thing you hope attendees will take away from your session?

The confidence in the migration to 15.7.
