Session Previews:George Murnu, PMP Information Technology Division National Agricultural Statistics

By: Mr. Adrian Bridgwater on Mar 06, 2015

What is your position in your place of work?

While in many ways my position is that of the typical application developer, I am also devoting an increasing amount of time to the areas of Project Management (including Agile Methodologies), Application and Database Standards, Quality Assurance and Leadership / IT initiatives. I also helped selecting the correct tools for projects, interviewed candidates for job openings, and in previous positions I had supervisory experience.

What is the title of your session and when is it?

The title of my session is “ELMO and the Census of Agriculture” and is on Wednesday, April 1st 2015 between 9:15 and 10:15 AM.

What gave you the inspiration and drive to present this topic in this way?

I have observed that at past conferences there was, at best, very little on the work done in the public sector. And what better way to fill this void than by presenting one of the largest systems at USDA?

Why should people come to your session and why does it rock?

How many of you knew that there is actually a Census of Agriculture, and that it even took place since the early 19th Century? It rocks because I will show the ingenious way in which we use technology in order to meet the needs of the Census of Agriculture.

What is the one thing you hope attendees will take away from your session?

The quality work that is done in the public sector.
