OCS Programmer's Workshop information

By: Paul Vero on Mar 15, 2015

If you are enrolled for the OCS Programmer's Workshop here are the items you'll want installed on your laptop to get the most out of this workshop.

First, you'll want the Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 or 2013 Express edition.  It is free and available at the Microsoft MSDN site. URL for 2013:

It does look like the 2012 Express is unavailable but 2013 will work just the same.

Second you want to get SDK 15.7 or 16.0 installed (SDK for SAP ASE). You can get the SDK free at the https://store.sap.com. Scroll down to bottom and select "Database and Technology". In Search bar enter "Adaptive Server Enterprise", and enter the SCN - SDK page. You can select, in this order: 15.7 SP127, 15.7 SP130, 16.0 PL04 1_off, 16.0 PL04, and 16.0 PL03. Press "Trial Version" (don't worry this is not trail software - you get the full install) and fill out the form.  You receive an email with the links to downloads.  The SP130 links still say SP127 but you'll get SP130. I recommend for windows you install the 64-bit version.

Thirdly and last, go to this SCN site: http://scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/oltp-db and you can download the free "Developer" edition of SAP ASE. We won't be able to share a network in the workshop so it you install ASE locally with SDK you are all set for the workshop.

Feel free to email me at paul.vero@sap.com if you have questions, etc.
